Book Ratings

This page describes the ratings system used on this site.

For the most part, this site is focused on recommending books for family readers. As such, the rating system is primarily geared towards books as a medium. However, as I add more to the site, I may use this rating system to describe other mediums as well (i.e. movies, games, music, etc.). While the rating descriptions may not perfectly describe those other mediums, I believe the average reader will be able to make a relative comparison. If you have recommendations for ratings systems that you really like, I would love to hear from you. Use the Contact page to share your thoughts.

Disclaimer

Keep in mind that these ratings are highly subjective and based on my personal opinions. I don’t expect that we will always agree. My hope is that my ratings and brief reviews/discussions will be useful as a starting point for you, but ultimately, you will have to make up your own mind about whether or not you think your kids should read any of the books discussed on this site.
